Herculaneum: Buried Histories

Herculaneum and Pompeii. Buried Histories.

The Herculaneum and Pompeii ruins are a sight unique in the world. Cities buried in few instants from the violence of the Vesuvius that will can be visited from July till October 2014 every Friday also by night.

The Herculaneum Ruins visit is a fascinating trip, conducted by an archaeologist, that begins with a virtual story through 3D images of the Vesuvius eruption in the 79 A.D. and it continues with a driven run along the excavations. The walk, illustrated step by step by an archaeologist, offers a beautiful vision of the site from on high, as well as foresees a visit to the Tent of the Boat (opened in this one instance), where it will be illustrated some extraordinary finds connected to the sea activities. Then the rus goes on with the descent toward the Roman city, along a run skilfully illuminated and with so many sounds, up to the Fornici where is the beach with the stores and where many peple took refuge trying desperately and in vain by sea. Afterwards there will be a suggestive theatrical performance, where the buried histories of women, men, elderly and children will be gone back over up to the unexpected catastrophe.
Herculaneum can be visited just with reservation (calling from 10.00 a.m. till 3.00 p.m. at the number 0818575347) for three groups of at most 25 visitors with entry at 8.15 p.m., at 8.35 p.m. and at 8.50 p.m.. The cost of the ticket is EUR 5,50 (free for the younger than 18 years old upon exhibition of a valid document of identity at the box-office). Entrance exclusively through Papiri Ercolanesi Street.

To the Pompeii Ruins the visit starts from Porta Marina and continues with the visit to the Suburban Thermal baths and with a run that will follow the external path of the area and that will finish at the Auditorium of Esedra Square with a screening recalling the salient moments of the eruption.
